For three days in late June, nearly 70 participants from university, K-12, and non-formal education convened at the Cleveland Botanical Garden for a diverse series of presentations highlighting current projects and initiatives in biomimicry education. Conference speakers, including Dr. John Warner of the Warner Babcock Institute for Green Chemistry and Dr. Frank Fish of WhalePower Corporation, engaged attendees in lively question-and-answer sessions. According to first-time attendee and graduate student Michelle Fehler: "I expected to be immersed into the world of biomimicry, however, I did not expect to be blown away by some of the speakers as well as by the sense of hope by everyone who was part of this summit. Attending the summit has helped energize me to dive into my Master's Thesis with a plethora of ideas."
The Summit also included panels of experienced biomimicry educators from university, K-12 and nonformal settings. Many of the Summit's presenters participated in a webinar on biomimicry in higher education earlier this year. To order a PDF of those proceedings, available for $10, please click here.
