Nature's 100 Best

Nature's 100 Best Technologies (N100B) is a project to search the biological information available for the world's 10-30 million species and myriad ecosystems to identify the most promising of Nature's technologies for humanity to emulate in its efforts to design a more sustainable, healthier planet. The goal is to spur radical reinvention of products, processes, and ways of living while increasing respect for and conservation of biodiversity.

This list of Life's well-adapted designs and strategies is being compiled, developed, ranked and voted on in cooperation with scientists, entrepreneurs, and policy makers from around the world. The final list of Nature's 100 Best  technologies will highlight the organisms and/or ecosystems around the world that have the greatest innovative solution potential in the areas of manufacturing, materials, health, energy, chemistry, agriculture, forestry, fisheries, building, economics, and more. By putting an emphasis on model organisms and habitats around the world that are threatened or endangered, we will draw attention to and create conservation efforts for these organisms.

The project is a collaboration between The Biomimicry Institute, The Biomimicry Guild, Zero Emissions Research and Initiatives, The World Conservation Union, and the United Nations Environment Program.
